Bringing the Power of Automation to Small And Medium Enterprises

Advancements in technology have significantly brought down the cost of implementing automated systems, making them a viable solution for a wider array of sectors and companies. Not only large corporations with ample resources to invest, but small and medium enterprises (SMEs) too can now harness the power of automation.
This shift presents the opportunity to enhance operational productivity while minimizing human error – the two key drivers of automation, irrespective of a company's nature of business. Be it industrial production or service delivery, these benefits have been observed time and again in performance metrics.

Ideally it will be possible to achieve completely autonomous production cycles by making the work "team" completely automated in this way the incidence of errors is reduced to a minimum, concentrating production control on specialized technicians who would have the possibility of controlling the activities even from remote workstations so as to also be able to create smart working for factory operators. Reduction of errors which logically translates into a reduction in costs, which in turn leads to an increase in the possibility of investing in innovation.
But the question to ask now is: how big does a company have to be for the investment to be profitable? In a company made up of just a few operators, would the investment be advisable?

There are several factors that must be taken into consideration to answer this point such as, for example, how orders are managed, how production costs are evaluated, how many peak production periods would require the hiring of personnel and how they are managed.
In the face of these reasonings, however, the most important aspect is to carry out a correct planning of the development of the phases necessary for business automation through interventions aimed at improvements with planned investments. In doing so, the possibility of company development increases and this increase leads to the possibility of investing in company updating.

The transition towards automation can start with streamlining of processes, via the deployment of machinery or auxiliary tools that gradually reduce dependence on manual operations. By designing these new technologies in a forward-looking way, they will prepare for a future connection of the various industrial processes (where there are cycles that require different processes) and/or connections with company processes such as order management, invoicing, production data saving, etc.

Through the automation of business operations with capable management tools, we can enhance control and coordination of production activities, increase management oversight, and formulate long-term plans for business operations. All these tools, in turn connected with the production systems, will ensure that there are tools for company monitoring of times , costs and planning always up-to-date and able to provide management staff with all the necessary information.
The era of automation is not a far-off future but a present reality. The barriers have been lowered, and the tools are available for businesses of all sizes to harness the power of automation. For small to medium enterprises, it's no longer a question of 'if' but 'when' and 'how' to best incorporate automation into their operations.
